Island culture

Last night I attended a first Thursday. First Thursday is a joint event by our local library and our local art council. Each month focuses on a local artist. This month it was a retro-spective of multi-media artist Jeanne Lewis. The oldest piece was a painted landscape dating back to 1946. The newest piece is a glass sculptured wall hanging which Jeanne created in 2006. Jeanne is a talented artist whose art remains current. Well done Jeanne.
Though the weather outside was wet and cold - inside was warm, friendly, supportive and fun. Jeanne's show runs for the entire month. So drop by Mayne Island library and soak in the inspiration.
